Subject: Maths & Science — Memory & Classification | Age Range: Ages 4–12 (Year K–6) | Time to Play: 5–10 minutes
Memory Match is the classic card-flipping memory game, reimagined with beautiful animal illustrations and three board sizes to suit different ages and challenge levels. Players flip cards one at a time, trying to find matching pairs. When two face-up cards match, they stay revealed; when they do not match, they flip back over and the player must remember where each animal was hiding. The game develops visual memory, concentration, and spatial recall — cognitive skills that underpin learning across every subject area. Working memory in particular is one of the strongest predictors of academic success identified in cognitive psychology research. The animal theme adds a layer of science vocabulary learning: children encounter animals from a range of habitats, including many Australian native species such as the quokka, bilby, numbat, and tasmanian devil alongside more familiar animals from around the world. The smallest board (4×3, 12 cards) is designed for ages 4–5 and can be completed in a few minutes. The medium board (4×4, 16 cards) suits ages 6–8 and provides a moderate challenge. The large board (6×4, 24 cards) is designed for ages 9–12 and requires genuine sustained attention and strategy. Experienced players develop systematic approaches — flipping cards in a consistent order to maximise information gathering — which introduces early concepts in problem-solving strategy and efficiency. Memory Match is one of the simplest games to explain to young children, making it ideal as a first digital learning game and as a shared activity for parents and children to play together.
