Number Zapper
A grid of 9 numbers appears — quickly tap all the ones that match the rule before time runs out! 5 rounds, 20 seconds each.
Subject: Maths — Number Sense | Age Range: Ages 5–10 (Year K–4) | Time to Play: 3–8 minutes
Number Zapper is a fast-paced, click-based maths game that challenges children to quickly identify and tap the correct number cards from a grid — before time runs out. Each round presents nine number cards and a rule: "Tap all even numbers," "Tap all numbers greater than 15," "Tap all multiples of 3," and so on. Children must rapidly evaluate each card against the rule and select all matching ones. This develops a kind of mathematical scanning and classification skill that is distinct from arithmetic calculation — but equally important. The ability to quickly recognise properties of numbers (odd/even, multiple, factor, prime) is fundamental to number sense, and number sense underlies all advanced mathematics. For the youngest players (ages 5–6), the rules are simple: "Tap numbers less than 5" or "Tap numbers greater than 3." For middle-level players (ages 7–8), rules involve even/odd identification and simple multiples. For older players (ages 9–10), the rules extend to factors, multiples, prime numbers, and square numbers — concepts covered in the Australian Curriculum's Number and Algebra strand for Year 4 and Year 5. Each round lasts only 25 seconds, creating a healthy time pressure that encourages fast retrieval of number properties without being anxiety-inducing. The click-to-select mechanic — tapping a wrong card deselects it — builds the habit of checking answers before submitting. Number Zapper is one of our "Click & Play" games: no long game modes, just instant engagement the moment you choose your age group.
